The State Traffic Inspectorate announced massive and continuous checks of drivers
On Friday and the last December weekend, traffic police officers will conduct massive and continuous checks on the country's roads, special attention will be paid to the search for drunk drivers. The raids were announced by the regional departments of the State Traffic Inspectorate.
Raids on drunk motorists will take place in Murmansk, Kirov, Ulyanovsk, Smolensk, Tambov regions and other regions of the country. On the eve of the weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate reminds of the inadmissibility of driving under the influence of alcohol.
"Driving under the influence of alcohol is unacceptable in itself, and on a winter road, such irresponsible and criminal behavior by the driver leaves even minimal chances for a successful trip. Do not risk your life, as well as the lives of your passengers and other road users, by driving drunk. We kindly ask the witnesses to inform the police about drivers who get behind the wheel while intoxicated. The necessary response measures will be taken for all such reports. Such a call can prevent a tragedy on the road and save someone's life," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, deputy head of the propaganda department of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry.
The State Traffic Inspectorate recalled that driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as refusing a medical examination, entail the deprivation of a driver's license for a period of one and a half to two years and a heavy fine. In addition, in some cases, the driver faces criminal liability for these acts, the traffic police emphasize.
Earlier that day, it was reported that the Ministry of Internal Affairs had developed amendments to the rules for passing the driver's license exam.
