Experts named the regions of the Russian Federation with the lowest car costs

On average in Russia, the average cost of owning a car is 101 thousand rubles per year, but in some regions it is 4% less. On December 27, experts from Avito Avto told Izvestia about this.

The lowest cost of ownership was in the Omsk region and Udmurtia.: There, an average of 97 thousand rubles a year are spent on fuel, insurance, maintenance and taxes. This is followed by the Ryazan region (98 thousand rubles) and the Sverdlovsk region (98 thousand rubles). Also, the maintenance of cars in Bashkortostan, Kaliningrad region and Tatarstan is lower than the average in Russia, where annual expenses amount to 98 thousand rubles each. Altai Territory, Volgograd and Chelyabinsk regions complete the top ten (99 thousand rubles each).

The cost of ownership was calculated for each region separately, it includes several key cost items: CTP policy, transport tax, average maintenance cost and fuel costs. The cost of fuel is based on Rosstat data, the consumption is based on the technical characteristics of the model. The average mileage for the study is 13.7 thousand km per year. The cost of the CTP policy is calculated for drivers aged 34 years and driving experience of 11 years, and the average maintenance cost is in accordance with the data of Avtoteka.

"The differences in the cost of ownership are due to the fact that the costs of gasoline, CTP and maintenance vary depending on the region. For example, fuel and lubricants are cheaper in some regions, and a well-developed network of car service stations helps to keep prices down for repair services," said Andrey Kovalev, director of the Used Cars department at Avito.

Earlier, on December 24, the Russian Union of Motor Insurers said that the highest price increase for spare parts for cars in 2025 was recorded for the Volkswagen brand. The average increase in payments for CTP spare parts among all brands was 4.5% this year.
