January 2026 in the capital region is expected to be 1-2 degrees colder than the climatic norm, as well as moderate in terms of precipitation. This was announced by meteorologist, leading specialist of the Phobos weather Center Evgeny Tishkovets in his Telegram channel on Friday, December 26.
The forecaster clarified that the January norm for Moscow is -12.3 degrees at night and -6.3 degrees during the day.
"This means that the snow reserves accumulated until the end of the year and the expected increase in snowdrifts in January will continue. In terms of precipitation, the second month of winter is forecast to be moderate and close to normal, due to which snowdrifts will grow to 28-33 cm by the end of January," the Moscow City News agency quoted him as saying.
