Rosrybolovstvo named a possible source of bacteria in red caviar
Press Secretary of the Federal Agency for Fisheries (Rosrybolovstvo) Dmitry Klokov told Izvestia on December 28 that the E. coli group bacteria identified by Roskachestvo in the red caviar of five brands are exclusively related to the technological processes of processing and storage.
"The violations relate to the production facilities of companies purchasing fish products for packaging. No such problems have been recorded at the enterprises of Pacific salmon fishing, aquaculture and production from their own raw materials," Klokov said.
According to him, statements about non-compliance with quality standards are allowed only after a thorough interdepartmental check in order to avoid instability in the market and undermine confidence in bona fide manufacturers.
Rosrybolovstvo has already sent appeals to Rospotrebnadzor and the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation to assess the situation and take measures against the guilty suppliers and manufacturers.
As it became known earlier, Roskachestvo discovered E. coli in salmon caviar of five brands. We are talking about caviar of the brands "Moscow fish Factory", "Russian Sea", "Red Gold", "Delicateska" and "Red caviar". Roskachestvo has completed a study of salmon roe from 21 brands, which revealed individual violations of quality and safety requirements, while overall improving product performance compared to previous years. This was reported by the press service of the department.
