Russia summed up the results of the "Cities of Heroes" project
Within the framework of the All-Russian project "Cities of Heroes", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, assistance was provided to boarding schools, mercy homes and other social institutions in the amount of more than 30 million rubles. This was told by Fonbet, which initiated the project together with the Memory of Generations Charitable Foundation.
"The key feature of the Cities of Heroes project is an individual approach to helping each institution: local specialists themselves formed a request for rehabilitation or medical equipment based on actual needs. This contributed to the effective modernization of the institution and the qualitative improvement of the medical services provided," Fonbet noted.
14 cities with honorary titles of "City of Military Glory" or "City of Labor Valor" participated in the project. Among them are Staraya Russa, Velikiye Luki, Stary Oskol, Orsk, Saratov, Syzran, Zelenodolsk, Kurgan, Astrakhan, Ulan-Ude.
For example, they helped to equip salt rooms in the Orsk House of Mercy "Nadezhda" and the Astrakhan Boarding House for the Elderly and Disabled, and to purchase a multifunctional physiotherapy device and an ozone air bath in the Saratov Boarding House for the Elderly and Disabled. The Starorussian House of Social Care received several exercise equipment, medical beds and lifts of various types.
"Some of the equipment that the Starorussky House of Social Care received was not previously available in any social institution in the region: electric beds with a positioning system, a tracked ladder lift and a walking simulator are exclusive for social hospitals in the Novgorod region," said Tatyana Zarnitskaya, Deputy director of the Novgorod Regional Family Center.
In total, more than a hundred units of medical equipment were purchased, including rehabilitation and physiotherapy equipment, medical furniture and devices for therapy.
As part of the project, new bas-reliefs and a star near the Eternal Flame were also installed in Zelenodolsk, and a light installation "Rzhev City of Victories" was opened in the Rzhev Park of Culture and Recreation. „This is a special gift to Rzhev from a charitable organization, implemented exclusively at the expense of extra-budgetary funds. For us, this is not just a beautiful structure — it is a symbol that embodies all the strength of the spirit of our city and its inhabitants,“ said Roman Krylov, head of the Rzhevsky Municipal District.
Thanks to the program, the grave of a participant in the capture of Berlin, the commander of the assault group and the author of the legendary phrase "We are from Yelets" was restored in Yelets Boris Sidelnikov, and in Ulan-Ude, to organize an exhibition "Ulan—Ude - the City of Labor Valor" in the local History Museum.
"It was very important for us to implement such a socially significant project as the Cities of Heroes. Every month, DobroFON and the Memory of Generations Charitable Foundation visited social institutions in different cities of military glory or labor valor, and also visited veterans. And everywhere we received warm words of gratitude in response — this is the best assessment of our work. We hope that the assistance provided will really contribute to improving the quality of medical services provided and, thereby, improve the lives of our dear veterans," said Fonbet managing shareholder Valentin Golovanov.
Elnora Lysova, Head of targeted programs at the Memory of Generations Charitable Foundation, added that this year, together with DobroFON, they managed to implement a large-scale assistance program. "Looking back at what has been done, we see not just numbers, but real changes for the better in the lives of veterans and entire institutions. This is the most important result of our union," she concluded.
