The weather forecaster warned about frosts and daily snow in Moscow for the New Year

On the night of December 31, it is predicted to cool down to -12...-13 degrees in Moscow and up to -10...-15 degrees in the area. This was reported to Izvestia on December 26 by Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti news agency.

She specified that the weather in the New Year's Eve days will be formed under the influence of Atlantic cyclones. Daily precipitation will continue until December 31: light or moderate snow is expected.

"The air temperature will be below the climatic norm by about 3, maybe 2-3 degrees. However, this is a preliminary forecast," the expert emphasized.

Pozdnyakova added that the frosty weather may persist in the first half of the New Year holidays, after which snowfalls and temperatures close to a thaw are possible. The prevailing weather conditions are favorable for winter holidays. The snow cover will remain and will increase, which will allow skiing, skating and tubing.

On December 19, Alexander Shuvalov, head of the Meteo forecasting center, predicted "truly wintry" weather for the New Year. According to him, the first waves of cold weather will cover the capital and its region from Tuesday to Thursday— December 23-25. Snow may fall in this area on December 28 and 29. Shuvalov stressed that a reliable forecast is clear only for seven days.
