The Central Bank of the Russian Federation is discussing approaches to the development of a new 500-ruble banknote. This was announced on December 26 by Sergey Belov, Deputy chairman of the regulator.

"Based on the vote, I can say that we are currently discussing approaches to developing a new banknote," said the deputy head of the Central Bank.

Belov noted that the exact date of voting on this initiative is planned to be determined in 2026.

On October 12, the Central Bank canceled voting for the design of a new 500-ruble banknote due to attempts by technical means to increase the number of votes for some objects.
