There have been 295 road accidents in Russia over the past 24 hours.
Over the past day, 295 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 29 people were killed and 358 injured. 22 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on December 26 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
As a result of 107 road accidents, 58 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 49 outside their area of operation, seven pedestrians were killed, and 49 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 18 underage pedestrians, 10 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway outside the designated areas.
There were 21 accidents involving buses, in which there were no fatalities, but 32 road users, including two children, needed medical help. 11 bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by drivers of other vehicles. Over the past day, 29 accidents involving minors were also registered, in which 30 young road users, including 12 passengers, were injured. There are no dead children.
In addition, temporary restrictions or traffic closures were introduced in some regions of the country due to adverse weather conditions. So, in the Murmansk region, due to snowfall, blizzard, gusty winds and limited visibility, traffic on two regional highways stopped for several hours on Thursday morning, and in the evening, for the same reasons that ice was added, traffic on the highway "entrance to the city of Zaozersk" was stopped in the region from 0 to 16 km.
On the eve of the last weekend of the outgoing year, the State Traffic Inspectorate recommended that motorists, when planning long-distance trips, first familiarize themselves with the weather forecast and media information about possible overlap sites, outlining detours in advance. In case of traffic restrictions or closure of road sections due to worsening weather, the relevant information is promptly posted on the website of the State Traffic Inspectorate, as well as on the official pages of the service units in social networks.
The State Traffic Inspectorate draws the attention of drivers to the fact that in winter they should be extremely careful when driving: avoid sudden rash maneuvers and realignments on roads slippery with snow or ice, observe the interval and distance between vehicles, and do not exceed the set speed.
"Also, do not forget that in conditions of insufficient visibility, it is necessary to move with external lighting devices turned on, be sure to use fog lights, if available, and during precipitation, reduce speed as much as possible and move with the alarm lights on. If the weather worsens, temporarily refrain from using personal vehicles until more favorable weather conditions occur. At the same time, transfer to public transport in urban conditions," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Promoting Road Safety and preventing child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
The day before, it was reported that following the results of 11 months of 2025, the number of accidents involving taxi cars on Moscow's roads decreased by 7.2%, and the number of dead and injured in such accidents decreased by 32.1% and 6.2%, respectively.
