Deputy Mayor of Moscow Natalia Sergunina congratulated Eduard Shonov, a recipient of two Orders of Courage and a participant in the Time of Heroes program, on his appointment as Deputy General Director of the Federal Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems.

In May last year, he became one of the 83 participants in the "Time of Heroes" program initiated by Russian President Vladimir Putin and implemented by the Higher School of Public Administration of the Presidential Academy.

Commenting on his appointment, Shonov noted the importance and relevance of the development of the field of unmanned systems for the country. "Unmanned systems have already proven their effectiveness in dozens of industries, from infrastructure monitoring to agriculture. Our goal is to accelerate the implementation of these technologies and train personnel capable of operating unmanned aircraft in Russia in the future. The Time of Heroes program aims us at new challenges and solving tasks in the interests of the country," he said.

FC BAS brought together leading Russian developers and manufacturers of UAVs, components and software. It is located in the capital's Rudnevo Industrial Park.

"Congratulations to Eduard Olegovich on his appointment to this responsible position! The center employs real professionals who create, modernize and test the most advanced solutions. Technological tournaments are also held here and a new generation of specialists is being trained. Such an integrated approach to the development of unmanned aircraft systems is fundamentally important for the country's competitiveness in this area," said Sergunina, Shonov's mentor in the Time of Heroes program.

For performing combat missions, Shonov was awarded two Orders of Courage, the Suvorov Medal, and the Medal for Bravery. In April 2025, he was appointed to the position of adviser to the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development of Moscow.

More than 70 participants of the "Time of Heroes" program have already taken up new positions. Among them are the Presidential Plenipotentiary in the Ural Federal District, Artyom Zhoga, the head of the Tambov Region, Evgeny Pervyshov, the head of the Movement of Firsts, Artur Orlov, and Senator Alexey Kondratiev.
