Analysts named the most popular used car loans in Russia
In 2025, Russians most often applied for the purchase of Lada, Kia, Hyundai, Toyota and Volkswagen cars on credit in the secondary car market. On December 26, experts from Avito Avto told Izvestia about this.
Experts have studied data on applications for loans for the purchase of used cars from private sellers sent through the platform. It turned out that this year the average loan term was 6.5 years, and the average requested amount was 856 thousand rubles. In the second half of 2025, the number of loan applications increased by 73.4% compared to the same period in 2024, while the average loan amount decreased by 10.2%.
Among the models, Lada Granta became the leader in the number of loan applications, followed by Hyundai Solaris Lada Priora, Toyota Camry and Kia Rio, as well as Ford Focus, Lada Vesta and Volkswagen Polo, Skoda Octavia and BMW 3 series. The top 5 in terms of the share of applications in 2025 included cars from Japan (21.6%), Germany (20.9%), Russia (15.9%), South Korea (15.9%) and the USA (8.8%).
The Russians indicated the minimum amounts in applications for the purchase of Lifan cars (459 thousand rubles), Peugeot (500 thousand rubles) and Lada (550 thousand rubles). The loan for the largest amounts — 2.8 million rubles and 2.3 million rubles — was planned to be received for the purchase of Toyota Land Cruiser and Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, respectively.
The minimum term was fixed in loan applications for Lada and Lifan models (6.2 years each), as well as for Peugeot, Citroen and Opel (6.3 years each). Among the models, the fastest plans were to return borrowed funds for the purchase of Lada Priora (5.8 years), Hyundai Accent (5.9 years), Chevrolet Lacetti, Mitsubishi Lancer, Lada Kalina (6 years each), Mazda 3 (6.1 years).
Earlier, on December 23, it was reported that in January – November 2025, car loans in the amount of 1375.3 billion rubles were issued in Russia. This is 34.2% less than in the same period last year, when the volume of disbursements amounted to 2089.4 billion rubles.
