Fishermen have caught 309.6 thousand tons of fish in the Northern Basin since the beginning of 2025. This is 28.6% less than a year earlier. These are the data of Rosrybolovstvo, which is cited by the Bi-port news agency.

The agency clarifies that during this period in 2024, fish production in the Northern Fisheries Basin amounted to 433.7 thousand tons, including 51.7 thousand tons of capelin, 218.3 thousand tons of cod, 62.5 thousand tons of haddock.

In total, production in Russia for the whole year is 4.5 million tons of fish, which is 200 thousand tons less than a year earlier.

On average, every inhabitant of the Kola Arctic eats more than 23 kg of fish per year. This is the highest rate in the North-Western Federal District. However, this is less than the recommended value.

At the end of November, it was reported that the Khabarovsk Territory took the second place in Russia in terms of catch of Pacific salmon. The results of Putin's 2025 were summed up at a meeting of the Far Eastern Basin Scientific and Commercial Council. For Russia, which ranks first in the world in this indicator, the actual figures were higher than the initial forecasts.
