Oleg Morunov, PhD, an assistant at the Department of Polyclinic Therapy at the Institute of Clinical Medicine at the Pirogov University of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, spoke about three dangerous mistakes in providing first aid in winter.

In an interview with the Health Mail on Tuesday, December 23, he stressed that with frostbite, one should not rub the skin with snow: in this condition, it is easily injured, capillaries are damaged, and the cold only increases the lesion. The correct tactic is slow warming in a warm room, a dry insulating bandage and warm (not hot) drink. If you have doubts about the degree of frostbite, you should consult a doctor.

Experts also warned that at temperatures above 38 degrees, any warming procedures are dangerous — hot baths, foot soaring and inhalation, as they can lead to overheating and deterioration of the condition. In such cases, rest, fresh air, plenty of water and antipyretics prescribed by a doctor are recommended.

It is separately noted that taking shock doses of vitamin C does not shorten the duration of the disease and does not prevent it, but it can cause stomach irritation and allergic reactions. It is safer to get the vitamin from food or take supplements only after consulting with a specialist.

On December 19, general practitioner Anastasia Agaeva told Izvestia that the absence of a hat in winter would not cause meningitis, but it could lead to hypothermia. The development of flu and colds also occurs not because of the lack of a hat during the cold weather, but under the influence of viruses.

On December 1, Olga Karaseva, an ambulance paramedic, spoke about first aid for frostbite. According to the expert, you should slowly and gently warm the skin by wrapping the affected areas with a warm cloth or blanket, writes RT.

In October, allergist and immunologist Vladimir Bolibok told Moscow 24 that cold temperature urticaria appears regularly, unlike frostbite. In cold weather, it is recommended to reduce contact with allergens and, if possible, stay at home, and if necessary, go outside and carefully insulate yourself. 360.ru .
