There are about 10-15 thousand goitered antelopes or dzerens in Transbaikalia. They are mainly concentrated in the Dzerena Valley Nature Reserve, the Aginskaya Steppe Regional Nature Reserve and the Sokhondinsky Nature Reserve.

ChitaMedia news agency, referring to the environmental protection department of the regional Ministry of Natural Resources, writes that every year from 250 to 400 thousand grains come from Mongolia to winter in Transbaikalia. They gradually enter the territory of the region from the end of September to December, and leave for Mongolia from March to May.

Regional farmers were advised to protect their animals from contact with migrating individuals.

The Dzeren is an endangered species listed in the Red Book of Russia, the Trans-Baikal Territory and other regions.

Earlier it was reported that a new version of the Red Book of Animals was published in Transbaikalia. The work on the book was carried out for five years. It contains information about 170 species of animals, which is 35 less than in the previous issue. At the same time, some new species were included in the publication for the first time.
