The large seven-seat MG QS crossover, which will be sold in Russia under the name Moskvich M90 in 2026, passed the safety test in the Australian ANCAP crash test and received the maximum five stars. This was reported on December 22 by the Chinese Cars portal.

According to the results of the crash test, the safety of adult MG QS passengers was assessed by experts at 88%. During frontal and side impacts, the body's power elements did not deform, and protection of all important areas of the driver's and front passenger's bodies showed good results. At the same time, the permissible load on the rear passenger's chest during a frontal impact was slightly exceeded.

The safety of child passengers was assessed at 86%. The disadvantages are the lack of a child detection system in the cabin and parts of the necessary fasteners for child restraints in the third row of seats.

In the safety category of vulnerable road users, the crossover received 76%. The disadvantages are the injury-prone racks and the area at the base of the windshield, and there are also questions about the response of the automatic emergency braking system to pedestrians when the car is reversing.

Finally, the active safety systems were rated at 80%. Among the disadvantages is the lack of intelligent adaptive cruise control and standard sensors for the presence of passengers in the third row seats.

Earlier, on December 19, an auto expert predicted that new crossovers from the Moskvich automobile plant's M-line would cost about 3-4 million rubles.

Moskvich Automobile Plant announced new crossovers on December 16. Both models are no longer based on JAC models, as before, but on cars of the British-Chinese MG brand.
