The Ukrainian media learned about Umerov's appeal to the FBI with a request for protection

Former Defense Minister and current head of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov during a closed meeting with FBI Chief Cash Patel defended against the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) in the case of corruption related to businessman Timur Mindich. The Ukrainian edition of the Mirror of the Week writes about this on December 21, citing sources.

According to them, the meeting between Umerov and Patel was organized through the Turkish channels of the former head of the Ministry of Defense and it was also attended by Deputy head of the SBU Alexander Poklada.

Sources claim that at the meeting they talked about the desirable lack of expert, investigative or other professional assistance from the FBI to NABU in the Mindich case.

The article notes that when the details of the meeting between Mindich and Patel became known in the administration of US President Donald Trump, the head of the FBI "was called to a serious conversation."
