- Rostec noted the superiority of the MC-21 over the Boeing 737 and Airbus 320
The Russian MC-21 aircraft has significant advantages over international competitors such as the Boeing 737 and Airbus 320 due to its high level of passenger comfort. This was announced on December 19 by the press service of Rostec State Corporation.
"A significant advantage of the MC-21 is a high level of comfort for passengers due to a wider fuselage compared to the Boeing 737 and Airbus 320," the company said in a statement.
It is noted that the MC-21 has a wider fuselage, which allows for more space between seats, luggage racks and improved visibility through large portholes. In addition, the MC-21 surpasses its competitors in a number of technical solutions. The aircraft uses composite materials in power structures, including in the wing, which reduces its weight and increases efficiency.
At the same time, the priority for developers at the moment is to meet the demand of domestic airlines, and in the future they are considering entering international markets, Rostec stressed.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Saveliev said on November 19 that there are no problems in aircraft maintenance in Russia, as the country provides itself with components for aviation. He noted that it is absolutely safe to fly with Russian airlines, because they are fully certified, as well as aircraft components.
Also in August, the head of Rostec, Sergey Chemezov, announced that the company would begin mass production of Russian MC-21, SJ-100 and Il-114 aircraft for civilian use in 2026. In addition, certification flights will be completed by the end of 2026, after which mass production of domestic aircraft will begin.
