Psychologist, psychotherapist Olga Avanesyan told how to make a wish in the New Year to make it come true.
In an interview with Radio 1 on Tuesday, December 16, she noted that there is a technique called "Three Steps: accept, present, the first step," which turns the New Year's "I want" into a plan.
She explained that the technique is based on the principles of goal-setting psychology. The expert recommended that we first accept the results of the outgoing year, mentally living it without assessments and recognizing all the events that happened in order to free up internal space for a new one. Then she advised us to imagine the fulfillment of a wish in detail — not in general terms, but through specific images, sensations and emotions, since the brain reacts better to clear and sensual pictures.
The specialist further emphasized the importance of determining the first small and specific step that can be taken in the first days of January, and it should be so simple that it cannot be abandoned.
According to her, this approach helps not only to "send a dream into the universe," but to form an emotionally intense image that becomes motivation and triggers the process of actually achieving goals.
