A decrease in solar flare activity to zero is expected by December 17 and 18, and the coronal hole may cause magnetic storms. This was announced on December 15 at the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Institute of Space Research (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

"The absolutely depressing picture of the solar winter in the coming days is likely to be somewhat diluted by a rather large coronal hole of a very peculiar shape formed on the solar disk. <...> Probably, on Wednesday or Thursday, an outraged stream of solar wind will come to Earth from the second, more extended, wing. There is no forecast for magnetic storms yet, but since the previous touch gave storms of the lowest first level of G1, this can be considered a preliminary guideline," the laboratory's Telegram channel says.
