Magnetic storms began on Earth as a result of a plasma cloud impact from the Sun

The Earth was hit by the second of two plasma emissions that occurred on the Sun on December 7-8, resulting in magnetic storms. This was announced on December 11 by the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the IKI RAS in the Telegram channel.

"At the moment, there is a violent reaction of the magnetosphere. As is almost always the case with such impulsive events, a bright polar oval has formed. Its edge is still located above the northwestern regions of Russia, but the main part, unfortunately, has already gone towards Scandinavia and further to Canada," the scientists informed.
