The lifelong freezing of Russian assets by the European Union (EU) is unacceptable. Svetlana Zhurova, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Relations, said this on Monday, December 8.

"In any case, we will go to court about this. It's a trivial theft, there's no other way to say it. Are they ready to take on such responsibility, will people vote for such a decision — just to steal other people's money?"— said the deputy in an interview with Lenta.Ru .

In turn, Dmitry Bunevich, a political scientist and adviser to the director of the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies, said in an interview with RT that reports that the European Union could permanently block frozen Russian assets without reaching unanimity could be called legal casuistry designed to create the appearance of legality and dispense with the consensus of all EU members.
