On the eve of the New Year holidays, fraudsters began sending dangerous "New Year cards" to Russians, which may contain malicious files for identity theft. This was announced on December 6 by Anton Nemkin, a member of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications, federal coordinator of the United Russia party's Digital Russia project.

"After opening the file, fraudsters can gain access to banking applications, passwords or personal information, which creates the risk of serious financial losses," Nemkin told RIA Novosti.

The news is being updated.
