A film about the situation of animals on fur farms has been released in Russia.

The public organization Voices for Animals has released a documentary film about the situation of animals on fur farms in Russia. The purpose of the painting is to show the real conditions of animal husbandry and slaughter, supporting the idea of abandoning natural fur products.

The film was voiced by actress Sofya Shutkina, an active advocate of non—violence against animals in order to obtain fur.

"Today, there are many ethical alternatives available to us that are not inferior in quality to animal fur, which means there is no need to cause anyone suffering. Thanks to those who refused to buy fur products. Our choice is the engine of change. Spread information and support initiatives to protect animals, because their lives are more important than things," Shutkina said.

According to the filmmakers, today more and more people are choosing ethical alternatives to natural fur. However, Russian fur farms today raise and kill sables, minks, foxes, arctic foxes, nutria, ferrets, rabbits and chinchillas for fur.

"Our distant ancestors had no choice: to escape from the cold, they had to get their own skins. There is no such need in the modern world. Despite this, hundreds of thousands of living creatures are still being tortured and killed on animal farms. Subsidies are allocated to support the industry, which means that every citizen, whether he wants to or not, invests in these sufferings, in the destruction of the environment and the production of things without which it is quite possible to live," said Dinara Ageeva, chairman of the public organization Voices for Animals.

According to animal rights activists, in 2023, global fur production decreased by 40%, continuing a decade-long decline, as a result of which the industry decreased by 7 times. This indicates that more and more people are choosing an ethical alternative to fur. According to a VTsIOM survey, 53% of Russians today do not use fur products, and 26% are ready to give them up.
