The resignation of the head of the office of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, Andriy Ermak, will lead to a weakening of presidential control over the country and may lead to the militarization of Kiev if the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) receives sufficient power. Mark Lowe, an Australian political analyst, warned about this in an interview with Izvestia on November 29.

"This may involve the SBU, because now there is a vacuum in the government. The SBU, depending on what they think, may actually fill this vacuum, and Kiev may become an even more militarized state," Lowe said.

The political scientist added that after Zelensky's attempts to obstruct the investigation of corruption crimes, the West lost confidence in him, and now it can begin to control "every step" of the Ukrainian authorities.

"So now there will be a lot of players in this whole system," he said.

It is noted that after the scandal, Zelensky will depend more on the actions of the West than on conditions in Ukraine.

"He (Zelensky. He's trying to play cards with Russia, but it's not working. Russia stands its ground. Therefore, there will be more dependence on the West," the political scientist stated.

Zelensky announced Yermak's resignation earlier in the day. He also spoke about plans to hold consultations on the candidacy of the new head of the office of the President.

The deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Yaroslav Zheleznyak notified about the searches at Ermak. It was clarified that it was being conducted as part of a criminal case on corruption of businessman Timur Mindich (he is called the head of the criminal scheme). Later, RBC-Ukraine reported that charges had not been brought against anyone from Zelensky's office after searches of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) at Andriy Ermak.

On the same day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the corruption scandal in Ukraine could lead to complications in its negotiations with the United States. He noted that the consequences of this scandal could be very severe for the political system of Ukraine, and could also complicate the process of peaceful settlement of the conflict.

On November 28, Florian Philippot, the leader of the French right-wing Patriots party, called Yermak's resignation the collapse of the Ukrainian regime and called for French aid to be stopped.
