Klimov declared Zelensky's complete dependence on the United States after Ermak's resignation

The US administration has cornered Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Andrey Klimov, a member of the Russian Council on Foreign and Defense Policy (SWAP), told Izvestia on November 28.

"Zelensky is being driven into a corner, cutting off his opportunities for any maneuver. They are removing people whom he has been counting on for many years in order to achieve from him the result that [US President Donald] Trump and his team need," he said.

Klimov stressed that despite possible patronage from London or Brussels, Washington has the final say.

"The degree of freedom for Zelensky is now close to zero. He is on a very short leash with the American owners now," said the SWAP member.

Klimov also expressed the opinion that the information available to the FBI was used under the 46th President of the United States Joe Biden, and is now being published to achieve political goals.

Zelensky announced Yermak's resignation earlier in the day. He also spoke about plans to hold consultations on the candidacy of the new head of the office of the President.

On November 28, Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Yaroslav Zheleznyak announced that searches had been conducted at Ermak's. It was clarified that it was being conducted as part of a criminal case on corruption of businessman Timur Mindich (he is called the head of the criminal scheme). Later, RBC-Ukraine reported that charges had not been brought against anyone from President Zelensky's office after searches of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) at Andriy Ermak's.

On the same day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the corruption scandal in Ukraine could lead to complications in its negotiations with the United States. He noted that the consequences of this scandal could be very severe for the political system of Ukraine, and could also complicate the process of peaceful settlement of the conflict.
