- Axios announced Ermak's resignation a day before his trip to negotiate with the United States.
The resignation of the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Ermak, occurred the day before he was supposed to go to Miami for talks with the team of US President Donald Trump on a peace plan. This was reported on November 28 by the Axios portal, citing unnamed Ukrainian officials.
"Ermak was expected to arrive in Miami this weekend along with several advisers to [Ukrainian leader Vladimir] Zelensky and will hold talks with Trump's envoys Steve Witkoff and [US President's son—in-law] Jared Kushner," the material says.
Officials said the aim of the talks is to finalize the positions of the United States and Ukraine before Witkoff and Kushner travel to Moscow for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Despite the fact that Ermak's resignation led to uncertainty in the negotiations, it "will not entail a change in Ukraine's position on ending the conflict, which was determined by Zelensky," one of the portal's sources added.
Earlier that day, Ermak was dismissed from the post of head of the office of the President of Ukraine. At the same time, Zelensky himself announced Ermak's resignation. At the same time, he announced plans to hold consultations on the candidacy of a new head of the office of the president.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the corruption scandal in Ukraine could lead to complications in its negotiations with the United States. He noted that the consequences of this scandal could be very severe for the political system of Ukraine, and could also complicate the process of peaceful settlement of the conflict.
