Russian tourists are discovering new destinations to celebrate the New Year, demonstrating a growing interest in domestic tourism. According to data from the National Tour Operator Alean, on the eve of the winter holidays of 2025-2026, Ryazan, Yekaterinburg, Kostroma, resorts of the Caucasian Mineral Waters and Vladivostok showed the largest increase in bookings. The results of the study were reviewed by Izvestia on November 29.

Ryazan, which has received the status of the official New Year's capital, is showing impressive dynamics with a 25% increase in bookings compared to last year. Tourists are attracted by the Ryazan Kremlin, the Museum of the History of the Ryazan Lollipop and field trips to the village of Konstantinovo, where the S.A. Yesenin Museum-Reserve is located. The cost of accommodation in the city's hotels starts from 6,700 rubles per night in three-star hotels and from 8,400 rubles in four-star establishments.

"Yekaterinburg occupies the second position with a 22% increase in demand. The capital of the Urals is preparing for its guests a large—scale ice town with a skating rink and slides, as well as a diverse cultural program," the study said.

Kostroma, traditionally associated with a fabulous atmosphere, shows a 20% increase in bookings. Family tours with visits to the Snow Maiden's Chamber and the "Frost Master Factory" in Lavrovo are particularly popular. At the same time, prices here turned out to be above average: a night in a 3* hotel costs from 11,750 rubles, and in 4* establishments — from 20,000 rubles.

The resorts of the Caucasian Mineral Waters are also showing 20 percent growth, attracting both lovers of relaxing holidays with leisurely walks and those interested in wellness programs. The long January holidays contribute to an increase in demand for spa treatment: the cost of a 12-day tour for two varies from 96,800 to 209,000 rubles, depending on the category of accommodation.

Vladivostok completes the top 5 destinations with a 10% increase in popularity. The capital of the Far East attracts tourists with its panoramic views, unique nature and marine gastronomy. At the same time, local hotels offer the most affordable prices: from 4,000 rubles per night in three-star hotels and from 5,100 rubles in four-star establishments.

Alexander Osaulenko, Vice President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry, said on July 23 that new destinations for tourists, including international trends, are opening up in Russia. At the same time, there is an increase in demand for travel to the Middle East. He recalled that new destinations are opening up in Russia this year, for example, the countries of the Middle East — Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia. According to international indicators, these areas are among the most advanced in terms of dynamics.
