Megafon has connected five regions of the Far Eastern Federal District to high-speed home Internet. This was reported in the company's press service, noting that this completed the program to deploy the service in most of the country.

The Internet appeared in the Amur, Magadan and Sakhalin regions, Kamchatka Krai and Yakutia. "The new service became available to residents of these regions as a result of the expansion of the FVNO model implemented by Megafon on Rostelecom's infrastructure," the company said. As part of the partnership between the operators, Rostelecom provides free capacity for connecting home Internet in the region, and Megafon offers its own set of services and subscriber support. According to the company, wired Internet from Megafon is now available in 72 regions of Russia.

"The next step is to use our partner's network in those regions where Megafon already has its own wired Internet infrastructure. Due to this, we will be able to multiply the penetration of the service and increase its accessibility," commented Artem Filin, Director of Fixed Business Development at Megafon.

Alexey Demyanenko, Director of Products and Tariffs for Rostelecom's mass segment, stressed that "the opportunity to provide a full range of services for another operator will certainly have a positive impact on the development of the market in the regions of Russia and provide convenience and maximum choice for all residents." The development of projects based on the FVNO model will continue, he added.

The FVNO (Fixed Virtual Network Operator; translated as "virtual fixed-line operator") model It combines mobile and fixed-line services when one of the partners does not have its own broadband Internet access infrastructure.
