The expert named the main drivers of biometrics development until 2030

AI assistants, government services, and marketplace services will be the main drivers of biometric technology development until 2030. This forecast was made by Vadim Kulik, Deputy President and Chairman of the VTB Management Board.

According to him, biometric technologies are now experiencing a new stage of their development. "In addition to direct offline payment for goods and services using biometrics, and access control to any facilities, these technologies will be developed in fundamentally different segments," Kulik shared his opinion at the Digital Solutions forum at the Rossiya National Center. "The main ones will be the development of various digital assistants, AI assistants and agents, integration into various government services, as well as the development of marketplace services."

According to the deputy chairman of the VTB board, biometric technologies will be improved when AI assistants recognize users' voices and facial expressions, as a result, AI interaction with users will become more and more native. "Recent developments in robotics indicate that we are moving from the mechanical facial expressions and gestures of anthropomorphic robots to the most humanized movements in communication with users," Kulik said.

AI assistants will be able to "more and more clearly interpret the slightest changes in a client's behavior — when, for example, he is under some kind of pressure, and there is an outsider next to him," he is sure. This will be a key moment in the development of anti-fraud systems, Kulik stressed.

Marketplaces interested in the development of seamless payment services will carry out a special mission in the dissemination of biometric technologies. "The possibility of selling goods with limited access, such as prescription drugs, 18+ products, as well as the formation of separate marketing offers for certain categories of customers, will also open up great potential for this," said the deputy chairman of the VTB Board.
