A gas explosion occurred in the Tula region. What is known

The entrance of an apartment building collapsed in the village of Kurkino in the Tula region as a result of a gas explosion. Circumstances of the emergency

• On the morning of November 8, an explosion of household gas occurred in a residential apartment building in the village of Kurkino. As a result, the end wall of the first entrance, as well as the roof and ceilings of the second and third floors partially collapsed.

• The brother of the injured gas service employee shared the details of the incident with Izvestia. He said that his brother arrived with a partner on a call from local residents due to the strong smell of gas. The leak occurred on the ground floor. Presumably, the apartment owner decided to smoke, as a result of which an explosion occurred.

• 10 residents were evacuated. A temporary stay center was set up at School No. 1. Hot meals are provided there.

Actions of law enforcement agencies

• Specialized services and equipment were involved to eliminate the consequences of the accident. All work to eliminate the consequences of the explosion is under the supervision of the Prosecutor's office.

As a result of the tragedy, three people died.

• A criminal case has been initiated under Part 1 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements"). The regional prosecutor's office also organized a review of the implementation of legislation in the housing and communal services sector.

• According to the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation for the region, a gas explosion occurred during repair work on the ground floor of an apartment building.

The aftermath of the explosion

• Four people were injured in the explosion. They are hospitalized. Two of the victims are employees of the gas service. There are no fatalities.

• As the governor of the region Dmitry Milyaev pointed out, there are no people under the rubble.

• Residents of the two entrances who were not injured will be able to return to their apartments after the restoration of the supply of resources.
