Fire-fighting strips 100 m wide will be set up in the forests of Transbaikalia
Fire-fighting lanes will be set up in Transbaikalia between buildings and forest plantations. This is reported in the Telegram channel of the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The relevant amendments to the Technical Regulations on fire safety requirements were agreed at an interdepartmental meeting between the head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenkov, and the Ministry of Natural Resources, Alexander Kozlov. The document was submitted for consideration by the Government of the Russian Federation.
The draft law was developed by the Ministry of Emergency Situations with the participation of interested federal executive authorities. Its effect will extend to all Russian regions, writes the ChitaMedia news agency.
The initiative provides for the creation of fire-fighting distances with a width of at least 100 meters. It is expected that this will create an additional barrier to the spread of wildfires.
Earlier it was reported that fire-fighting gaps will be created in Transbaikalia from the forest to all settlements. This is necessary for effective forest fire control.
