Employers are increasingly facing a new feature of the zoom generation — young employees who are just starting to build a career. There are cases among interns and newcomers when an employee may not come to work due to a psychological condition. Ekaterina Zelenkova, HR Director of PROGRESS Group, told about this on October 3. "Газете.Ru ".

"For example, I was on a bus, had a panic attack and couldn't make it. This is not a mass phenomenon yet, but there is such a trend," Zelenkova explained.

According to her, millennials and older generations will "hold on to the last" and go to work even in difficult situations. Zoomers primarily think about their mental health.

"Yes, sometimes there may be a feeling that young employees lack responsibility. But it's important to understand: this generation perceives the work—life balance differently," the expert emphasized.

According to Zelenkova, the key task of a manager is not just to demand discipline, but to be able to interest a young employee. If the job seems meaningful, motivation will increase.

"A lot depends on how much a manager knows how to build trust and show the value of tasks," Zelenkova said.

The expert noted that it has become the norm among young people to talk openly about therapy and mental health.

"This is a trend, and it's pointless to dismiss it. But it is important for employers to separate real difficulties from banal excuses," says Zelenkova.

She added that zoomers are the future of the labor market, which will make up the bulk of the workforce in the coming decades.

"Therefore, the task of business today is to listen to these changes, adjust processes, and find a balance between requirements and support. If we want the company to grow, we need to learn how to work with the new generation, otherwise sooner or later they will simply choose a more loyal employer," the expert concluded.

Earlier, on September 6, in the Selecty study and hh.ru "The source code of the ideal job of an IT specialist" named the main factors for zoomers when applying for a job. Zoomers born from 1997 to 2012 are increasingly making themselves known on the labor market and are becoming the subject of active discussions in society and in the media. Generational theories are particularly relevant, which highlight their unique features, such as the priority of personal interests over work tasks.
