The actions of the Eurotroika countries (which include the United Kingdom, Germany and France), which are restoring the anti-Iranian sanctions of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), are nullifying the diplomatic settlement of the crisis over Iran's nuclear program. This was announced on September 19 in a statement by the Iranian Foreign Ministry.

"Today's actions by three European countries in the UN Security Council aimed at restoring previously repealed Security Council resolutions are illegal, unjustified and provocative, which seriously undermines the ongoing diplomatic processes," the ministry said in a Telegram channel.

The Foreign Ministry noted that Iran reserves the right to respond appropriately to any illegal actions, including an attempt to restore UN Security Council sanctions.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran, while pointing to its firmness in upholding its interests and rights, including through diplomacy, also reserves the right to respond appropriately to any illegal actions," the document says.

The UN Security Council rejected a draft resolution on maintaining the lifting of sanctions against Iran earlier on September 19. Sanctions against Iran will resume on September 27. Before that date, the UN Security Council may change the decision through negotiations.

Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, said that Russia sees no reason to extend the sanctions regime against Iran. He noted that the lifting of sanctions against Iran is the only true alternative solution.
