The number of wildfires in the Kuban has increased 1.5 times this season.

Since the beginning of 2025, 1,033 cases of dry vegetation fire have been recorded in the Krasnodar Territory. Statistics on fires generally correspond to the figures for 2024, but the number of wildfires and their area have increased 1.5 times.

The fire hazard situation and safety measures on local beaches became the main topics of the meeting of the regional commission for emergency prevention and response.

A special fire protection regime has been in effect in 44 municipalities since April 1. Thus, only special vehicles are allowed to enter the forests, and only organized tourist groups can visit them, KrasnodarMedia news agency writes with reference to the regional government.

As for the situation in reservoirs, since the beginning of the year, the number of accidents on the water has decreased by 39% compared to the same period in 2024. In Kuban, 59 deaths were recorded, all of them occurred in places not equipped for recreation. This has not been recorded on well-maintained beaches with surveillance equipment.

In the Krasnodar Territory at the end of August, two large forest fires were registered on a total area of 25 hectares. First, the fire was extinguished in the area of the Red Gap, and then near the settlements of Krinitsa and Dark Gap.

A fire in a forest area in Gelendzhik after the fall of the wreckage of an APU drone occurred on August 28. The fire area was 41.5 hectares. According to the head of the resort city, Alexei Bogodistov, no one was injured in the incident. On August 29, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported on the localization of a fire in Gelendzhik.
