By the end of 2025, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation expects that the volume of passenger air traffic between Russia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will be record-breaking. This was announced on August 7 by the Minister of Transport Andrey Nikitin.

According to him, cooperation in the field of transport between Russia and the UAE is developing very well, and the volume of air traffic is only growing every year.

"We can already see that this year's statistics exceed the statistics of the previous year by 20-25%. We are expecting another record for the year. We are also working here to expand the number of Russian airports where companies from the Emirates will be able to fly," Nikitin explained.

According to the agency, about 1 million 350 thousand passengers were transported between Russia and the UAE in 2024, and almost 750 thousand passengers in the first five months of 2025.

On the sidelines of the high-level talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and UAE Leader Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, an agreement in the field of transport was signed between the two countries. The document was signed by Nikitin and UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail bin Mohammed Al-Mazroui.

During a meeting with Al Nahyan on August 7, Putin said that Russia and the United Arab Emirates were actively cooperating on international platforms. Mutual investments between the two countries are only growing.

Dmitry Gorin, Vice President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry (PCT), said on July 16 that international travel had increased by 15 to 25% in different directions this year in Russia against the background of the strengthening of the ruble and the return of international transportation. According to him, Turkey, the UAE, Abkhazia, China and Thailand are the leaders in the ranking of the most sought-after foreign destinations.
