The British man who threw out the hard drive with bitcoins stopped searching
Briton James Howells has stopped searching for a bitcoin hard drive that was accidentally dumped in a landfill. This was announced on August 3 by the Crypto Rover portal.
"James Howells has finally stopped searching for the hard drive that he accidentally threw away in 2013," reads a message on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
According to the portal, 8 thousand bitcoins worth $950 million were stored on the hard disk.
On November 22, 2024, it was reported that Howells had been searching for more than 500 million pounds worth of Bitcoin (BTC) in a landfill for 11 years. The man claimed that he mistakenly threw away a hard drive with cryptocurrency more than 10 years ago and now the device is in a landfill in Newport.
