Direct flights can be launched from Russia to the Wonsan resort in the DPRK. This was announced on July 27 by the head of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, Alexander Kozlov.

"We are considering these issues, and they are currently being worked out," TASS quoted him as saying.

Kozlov clarified that the Russian side is currently open to any form of communication between the two countries, including sea and ferry services.

The first direct flight from Moscow to the capital of the DPRK, Pyongyang, will depart from Sheremetyevo Airport on July 27 at 19:00 Moscow time.

On July 18, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the information that North Korea allegedly closed the Wonsan resort to Russian citizens after the visit of Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was fake.

On July 12, after a meeting with North Korean Foreign Minister Choi Song-hee in Wonsan, Lavrov said that Russia and the DPRK plan to resume maritime communication between the two countries.
