Traveling in Russia reveals not only the beauty of landscapes, but also unique gastronomic traditions. On July 27, Yandex Travel shared with Izvestia the regions where local cuisine has become a real calling card.

Kamchatka is famous for its seafood delicacies: Kamchatka crab, red caviar, northern fish and bracken. Here you can try stroganina, sugudai and ukhta — ukhta with a smoky aroma.

In Tatarstan, the cuisine combines Turkic and oriental traditions. The main dishes are echpochmak, kystybyi, zur-balish and chak-chak. Tatar tea with honey and sweets occupies a special place.

"Krasnodar Region is an abundance of southern fruits, vegetables and seafood. The region is known for its wineries such as Abrau-Durso and Myshako, as well as dishes made from bananas and fresh vegetables," Yandex Travels noted.

Astrakhan region offers fish and caviar delicacies: triple fish soup, pike stomach rakhmanka and sweet Astrakhan watermelons.

In the Kaliningrad region, you can try Baltic and German cuisines. According to the service, Koenigsberg bugs, smoked eel and Kaliningrad marzipan deserve special attention. In addition, the annual Fishtival in Zelenogradsk gathers seafood lovers.

"Karelia is known for grouse, wickets and cloudberries. These simple but expressive dishes reflect the northern flavor of the region. Dagestan is famous for chudu, khinkal and aromatic herbs. The local cuisine is rich in meat dishes and Caucasian wines," the experts added.

Ural is a dumpling with a variety of fillings, mushroom pickles and berry desserts. The region is also known for its shangami and poshikunchiki.

Bashkiria offers beshbarmak, kazy and real Bashkir honey. Traditional herbal tea and baursaks complement the gastronomic experience.

The Volga region is famous for dried cottage cheese, spicy mustard and roach. The local cuisine combines dairy products, fish and spices.

Earlier, on April 21, Izvestia reported that traditional beach holidays are gradually losing ground. Russians are increasingly interested in author tours from local residents (25%), sanatorium recreation (24%), railway routes (11%) and gastronomic trips (10%).
