Ural debuts: which new cars were shown at Innoprom-2025
At the Innoprom-2025 industrial exhibition in Yekaterinburg, Russian and foreign automakers showed a number of new models, as well as an automobile brand that is still unknown to Russians. Izvestia dealt with new products and their market prospects.
Minivan from Tatarstan
One of Innoprom's most striking premieres was the Russian Sollers SP7 business minivan, which began mass production using full-cycle technology at the Yelabuga plant at the same time as the presentation in Yekaterinburg.
This is the first domestic car of this class with a gasoline engine (2 liters, 237 hp) combined with an eight-speed automatic. The start of sales is scheduled for the fall of this year. The car will be available in seven- and four-seater versions. The latest version features additional noise and vibration isolation, more expensive finishes, dynamic lighting, and a separate multimedia system with a full-size screen on the partition.
As Adil Shirinov, Chairman of the Sollers Board of Directors, noted, the production of Sollers SP7 involves not just a full cycle with welding, painting and assembly, but a phased deepening of localization, including the power unit and safety components, body parts and electronics, interior and exterior elements.
"We aim to customize the minivan to the needs of our customers as much as possible and, in addition to standard versions, produce a wide range of cars with different interior configurations," he stressed, showing the car to Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation.
A new brand
Innoprom presented a new Russian automobile brand Deepal. The first model of the brand was the Deepal G318 SUV. It is equipped with a hybrid power plant with a gasoline engine that works as a generator, and two electric motors with a total capacity of 430 hp. The total range reaches 1100 km, the car can travel up to 190 km on electric power.
In China, the G318 is one of the most popular "brutal" SUVs. It is equipped with all-wheel drive and air suspension, which allows you to increase the ground clearance of the car to an impressive 24 cm. Sales are expected to begin in Russia towards the end of the year.
A scattering of new products
The Russian company Evolve showed at Innoprom an updated hybrid crossover i-Space, which will appear in dealerships in August. In addition to the modified exterior and interior, the car received an upgraded power plant. The power of the electric motor increased from 177 to 218 hp, and the maximum torque increased from 300 Nm to 330 Nm. Production of the updated Evolve i-Space, which involves welding and painting the body, will begin at the plant in the Lipetsk region in the third quarter of this year.
— We will announce prices for this model closer to the start of sales. The battery capacity is higher here, so it will probably rise in price, but depending on the degree of localization, it may become cheaper," Andrei Reznikov, managing partner of Evolve, told Izvestia.
Another novelty presented at Innoprom, the production of which will also begin in the Lipetsk region in the third quarter, is the Voyah Passion EVR hybrid sedan. Currently, this car is available in Russia only in an electric version.
The hybrid version is equipped with two electric motors with a total output of 394 hp and a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 129 horsepower. The car accelerates to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. The power reserve with a fully charged battery and a full tank of fuel is 1000 km, and it can travel up to 200 km on electric power alone. The cost of Voyah Passion EVR will amount to 4.67 million rubles, including state support in the amount of 925 thousand rubles when buying on credit or leasing.
The Russian debut of the fourth-generation Changan CS75 Plus crossover also took place in Yekaterinburg. The company's engineers took into account the complaints of the owners of the previous generation model about the suspension and the lack of all-wheel drive modifications in the line. The chassis upgrade has reduced the stiffness of the shock absorbers by a third and reduced roll and longitudinal swing by 15-20%. The car will be available with 1.5-liter and 2-liter gasoline engines combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The two-liter engine version will receive BorgWarner all-wheel drive. The new product is expected to appear in Russian car dealerships in the fall.
Changan also intends to launch the Avatr 12 electric sedan on the Russian market in the autumn, which was shown in the capital of the Urals. The five-meter car is equipped with a 322-horsepower engine and batteries with a capacity of 94.5 kWh. The power reserve is 700 km, and acceleration to "hundreds" takes 3.9 seconds. In the maximum version, the car is equipped with electric doors and an air suspension with adjustable shock absorbers, as well as cameras instead of rear-view mirrors.
"The market will not be 'blown up'
Given the drop in new car sales, the market prospects of the models presented in Yekaterinburg will largely depend on their cost, experts interviewed by Izvestia believe.
— The appearance of any new models on the market is certainly a plus, as it expands the possibilities of choice for the consumer. But all the models shown have quite a lot of competitors — the success of a particular novelty will primarily depend on how much it will cost. In any case, none of these models will "blow up the market," says Igor Morzharetto, partner at the Autostat analytical agency.
In the current situation, only an affordable car model can potentially change the market, according to Maxim Kadakov, editor-in-chief of Za Rulem magazine. However, all the cars presented in Yekaterinburg are in the average price segment or even "above average," he notes. They will most likely find a buyer, but it is obvious that these will not be mass sales, he believes.
— The Sollers minivan, as well as the Evolute and Voyah models, have a well-known advantage due to production at Russian enterprises. Under certain conditions regarding the level of localization, they can be included in the list of models available for public procurement. Given the general decline in car sales, this could be a good help in the market," Maxim Kadakov told Izvestia.
