The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) must take responsibility for its assessments of Iran's nuclear program. This was announced on July 7 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"The IAEA leadership must show responsibility for the assessments it publishes, which it has published in the past and which were submitted to the IAEA Board of Governors just a few days before the aggression [against Iran] began," Lavrov said following the BRICS summit.

He noted that these data have been characterized by many as ambiguous and can be interpreted to imply that Tehran allegedly does not fulfill its obligations in good faith.

On the same day, Lavrov said that the BRICS countries at the summit had taken a common position on the inadmissibility of Israeli and US strikes against Iran. He also noted that the summit called for an end to Israel's aggressive actions not only towards Iran, but also towards the Gaza Strip.
